Okanagan #2 email form an onlooker

HI all, today parkrun was a ripping blast. I have never seen in almost 40 yrs of running a DAD carry or piggy back his child 5K. I wish I new your name. Please introduce yourself next week. You win the parkrunner of the week in my mind, let alone Dad of the week.  what an amazing way to include the youngest child in your family, as i did notice you have 2 boys as well.

I have received lots of feed back form a lot of people about parkrun. However in just two weeks this comes today from someone that was out for a walk close to the turn around.

" I just wanted to let you know that I saw a bunch of young people out doing your race today, I wanted to congratulate you on a job well done, the smiles on their faces as the slapped hands passing each other was very nice to see. Also I had a few of them say hi to me as I walked my usual route along the green-way. I saw your signs, and with the help of my granddaughter I found your email. Also with her help I have registered and printed off your bar-code. I may just show up and take part. I walk alone now as my husband passed last year and it seems that your group includes everyone. I there were older fellas and kids that could not have been more then 5 or 6 years old. Please email me back if you don't want a old lady of 78 slowing your race down. But I sure hope that is not the case! Your website was easy for my granddaughter to find all the information I required as to where it starts. I will see you in the near future! Granny"

Now if you think all of us out there is not making a difference in how people perceive a run, think again! I must take this time to say thank you to each and everyone of you for coming out, running, being happy, cheering each other on and spreading the word of PARKRUN.

We had a new Okanagan record set thus a new Canadian record set to day, and we are growing, lots of you out for your 2 parkrun, but a bunch of new parkrunners as well, 34 to be exact, congrats to you all.

On a house keeping note again we have a few crows, if you took a finisher tag home please bring it next week or drop it off to Bill Justus @eksgrill

If your not able to run of if you wish to support the others out there please email okanaganoffice@parkrun.com to volunteer, believe me the 90 mins you give to the other runners will come with thank-yous and smiles.  I could't do this alone, so thanks to all that help.

Run Report #1 Okanagan Canada

make each day a work of art that can not be measured by the human eye, but by the human heart.

Yesterday was to say the least fun, to say the most amazing! Canada hosted its very first parkrun, right here in the Okanagan. We had 96 first time runners and 96 first time pioneers. You all should be proud of what you accomplished yesterday. What a great time for Canada and Kelowna. we had stellar weather, approx 22 at the start and by the time we were all sitting having a bevy or breakfast it was 29C. the trail was in great shape and the course was well received.

I must take some time to thank all that made this happen.
Tom- for the licence to run parkrun in Canada
Euan- for his hard work in Vnacouver dealing with the paper shuffle
Christy- for her never ending energy on bylaws for canada legally
Therese - for planting the seed in me to get this in Canada
Jen - my amazing friend that helps with anything i ask
D-no, Lindsey, Liz, Syliva, Davis, Allison all part of the core team.
My family for all your support especially Carmen, for putting up with this passion of mine running.

I met so many wonderful people yesterday, from everywhere I'm still a bit blown away. We had an amazing turn out and I can't wait to see you all next week, same time same place.
