Parkrun & Picnic – September 7th, 2019!

Celebrate summer with parkrun! We are hosting a special event on September 7th to celebrate 12 great weeks of parkrun this summer. We invite you to come for our usual Saturday parkrun event (9 am start at York Road Park) and stay afterwards for a community picnic in the park!

We will provide coffee and cold beverages, and welcome you to bring food, either for your own group, or to share on our potluck table. Please also bring your own coffee mug, cup or water bottle, reusable plates and cutlery, and a blanket or chair if you would like to sit.

Parkrun is a FREE, weekly, timed 5K run or walk, open to everyone. Parkrun is about building community. It's about getting outside. It's about being active and challenging yourself. It's about supporting mental health. It's about enjoying our beautiful parks. It's about building healthy habits. It's about volunteering. It’s about running with friends, and making new ones. It's about welcoming people who have never run before, as well as experienced runners, and everyone in between.

Parkrun was founded in the UK in 2004, and we are happy to have put Guelph on the map this year as one of parkrun Canada’s 35 locations. We launched the first Eramosa River Trail parkrun event in Guelph on June 22nd, and an average of 67 runners have joined us each week since then. Parkrun will continue in Guelph every Saturday, year-round, thanks to the City of Guelph and all of our wonderful volunteers!

The 5K course follows the Eramosa River Trail– a beautiful, flat, winding path along the river. Parkrun welcomes all abilities and ages (kids to be accompanied by adults). You can run, jog, walk, bring your dog (on leash), push a stroller, socialize, or volunteer.

Sign up online at (it's FREE)! When you sign up, select Eramosa River Trail as your “home parkrun”, and then bring your printed barcode with you on Saturdays. We will scan it after the finish line, and you can track all of your parkruns over time, and around the world.

The start/finish line and picnic will be inside York Road Park (85 York Road), just beyond the covered bridge in downtown Guelph. Meet us there for a briefing around 8:45 am, and parkrun will start at 9 am, followed by the picnic celebration.
